Private investigator Sloane Beaumont should be enjoying his recent engagement to eldritch god Azaethoth the Lesser, AKA Loch. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have time for a pre-honeymoon period.

The trouble starts with a deceptively simple missing persons case. That leads to the discovery of mass kidnappings, nefarious secret experiments, and the revelation that another ancient god is trying to bring about the end of the world by twisting humans into an evil army.

Just another day at the office.

Sloane does his best to juggle wedding planning, stopping his fiancé from turning the mailman inside out, and meeting his future godly in-laws while working the case, but they’re also being hunted by a strange young man with incredible abilities. With the wedding date looming closer, Sloane and Loch must combine their powers to discover the truth—because it’s not just their own happy-ever-after at stake, but the fate of the world….

Ramblings/Drabbles/BLEGH

Hey everybody! Sorry for the delay in posting! My internet has been down for a few days, but now I’m up and running again! WOO!

BIG NEWS! Strapped For Cash is coming out June 11th! I am super excited to share this book with you guys, and I can’t wait for you all to get to know Roger and Mickey. I’m super duper RIDICULOUSLY pumped for this release. Like OMG. I’ve been planning this book for months, and it’s finally here!

Also! Quick heads up! If you haven’t snagged a copy of the Taking A Chance Anthology, do it now! It’s only gonna be available through July 22nd so the clock is ticking! Remember it’s for a super awesome cause! All proceeds are going to the AIDs Healthcare Foundation! <333

There’s more super exciting news for all my tentacle fans, too. There will be not just one but TWO new tentacle books this year! Head Over Tentacles (#3) comes out August 24th and Nautilus Than Perfect (#4) comes out this October. I’m waiting for an official release date for Nautilus, but I will post that plus all the preorder links as soon as I can.

Now I know a lot of people were disappointed by Grell’s magnificent hemi-penes, but I promise that these next two stories are jam packed with sexy tentacle goodness. The rest of the SFL series is all tentacles, I swear! Well, except ONE more very special book that I can’t tell you about.

OKAY but maybe I’ll just say that this is the book that used to be #3 and got bumped to #8… because it would totally give away who the Kindress is so I decided to move it. There are no tentacles in it – sorry! – but it is a veryyy important part of the series.

I’m almost done editing Just Calamarried (#5) and once I’m finished with A Quick Buck, I’ll switch from mafia shenanigans back to tentacle land to start on #6. This is one I’ve been looking forward to foreverrrr because it’s the book for Alexander, Rota, and Ollie. I know you haven’t met all of these guys yet (you’ll meet Alexander and Rota in #3, Ollie in #4), but trust me. It’s gonna be great.

Speaking of mafia stuff, I gotta say… it’s time to say goodbye to Jimmy and Boss Cold. CHC #5 is going to be the last of my sweet boys, and this was a really hard decision to make. Got some time? I’m gonna tell you all about it!

First and foremost, I’ve learned SO MUCH about writing since I published Cold Hard Cash. It’s actually hard for me to read it now because I just cringe. The hanging modifiers, the repetitive sentence structure, the adverb abuse, the word PURR, agh! I know that I can write so much better than that now, and I think it shows as the series has gone on. I’m getting better and better with every book I write, and I’m still constantly trying to improve my craft.

More than that, it’s the fan fiction connection that continues to gut me. The series started as fan fic. A lot of my early books did. It’s not exactly a secret. Ahem. Boss Cold? Come on. The problem that I have now is that the second I say anything was fan fic, whether it was a drabble that went on to be a novel or a fully filed story of my own creation, the perceived value of my work drops exponentially. The quality of what I wrote becomes insignificant, and I am being judged by the cruel measuring stick of “oh, but it was fan fiction”. My plot, the pacing, the steamy scenes, everything, all of it suddenly becomes meaningless.

That sucks.

No matter how much I love Jimmy and Boss Cold and the world I created, I want to move on. It’s just like my love for fandom. I will always love that part of my life and all the great things it has given me (hello there, 90’s queer awakening), but it’s not a good space for me now. It hurt me. Constantlyyy. It was an endless black hole and no matter what I did, I couldn’t keep my head up. The fun was gone, and there was not enough good to outweigh how much the bad sucked.

So. I left. I made the choice to leave. I don’t write fan fiction now because it’s like pissing in a barrel with a hole in it. I know that’s a super harsh analogy and I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone who writes/reads fic — this was MY most recent experience of it and ultimately what killed any desire to write it ever again. I was in fandom for over twenty years, but wow… Maybe it’s just me and my lil’ feelings being extra squishy, but fan peeps have gotten kinda nasty. I simply don’t have the mental energy to deal with it.

It’s not worth it.

Just like continuing a series that hurts me, no matter how beloved it is by my fans, is not worth it. It doesn’t matter what else I write for Jimmy and Cold, what I create for them, or how hard I try—it all comes right back to fandom, and yeah, wow, it still hurts. I’m sorry that I’m not a machine that can ignore the mean comments and reviews cracking about it being fic, but as a very wise author once said, it only takes one turd to spoil a bowl of Cheerios. So, that’s it. Just like I had to say goodbye to fandom, so too will I say goodbye to Jimmy and Cold.

Tl;dr I am going on to write lots of brand new and exciting naughty things in my own little bubble, and that’s that. People will still drop turds in my bowl, they always do, but they won’t be able to shit on me about fandom stuff. I can finally close that chapter of my writing career for good and move on. Fresh bits. Good meat. Let’s go.

I promise that I will give the boys a HEA, and it will not be the last time we see them. There will be many more bonus scenes and spinoffs and all that, don’t worry. I know how much they mean to everyone, and I do understand. They mean a lot to me too, but you can love someone and not wanna be with them, you know?

Plus I had a random idea for ANOTHER spinoff that I can’t shake. If you’ve been following along in my social media, you already know that A Quick Buck is about Alistair Star, Cold’s dom that we meet in Strapped for Cash. But I remembered something I had written in CHC, sort of a throwaway line that Rowena says about there being a whole bunch of little Legrands running around Strassen. Rowena was the only one acknowledged because of her Italian mother, but it got me thinking…

What about Rowena and Cold having another sibling out there? Their father was a big ol’ man whore, so it’s very possible that they have a half-brother or half-sister running around that they don’t know about. And what if this half-brother or whoever figured out who he’s related to?

DUN DUN DUNNNNN!

I haven’t been able to get the idea out of my head, so I think there’s a BIG possibility of writing yet another CHC series. It won’t feature Cold or Jimmy as MC’s, but they’d be a part of the story for sure. I do love those guys, but sometimes I worry about them wearing out their welcome. I’ve been writing them for a long time. A very loooong time. And you know, I want to write new people, new stories, new stuff, new SMUT. So, yes, I will keep writing stories set in CHC’s world, but I am only going to write one more book with Cold and Jimmy as the MC’s.

Whew. Okay. That was a lot. If you’re still here with me, thank you! I’ve said some of this stuff before in my ramblings, but I really wanted to get all of this out. So, yeah. There it is. I mean, have you seen the future project list I’ve got going? LOL I have sooo much more to write, and I’m finally ready to say goodbye to my first boys. I will probably start the last book sometime this fall, but mehhhh? We’ll see what happens!

Thank you for all of your support and your love for my writing. I seriously couldn’t do any of this without you guys. Keep your eyeballs peeled for new preorder links and release info coming soon!

Stay safe!
